Pastoral Care

Florida Hospital DeLand is committed to the mission of health and "wholeness" through Christian Service.  To be "whole" requires more then the treatment of the body.  It requires being attendant to the needs of the spiritual well-being of those we serve as well. Our staff of professional and volunteer chaplains stand ready to serve your emerging spiritual or religious needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Recognizing that Florida Hospital DeLand is a healing center for persons from all faiths and walks of life, our Pastoral Care Department is committed to providing for the needs of individuals within the context of their traditions regardless of faith or creed. For that reason, several faiths are represented by clergy-laity volunteers to meet your spiritual needs.

Chapel Facilities:
The hospital also maintains a chapel for your private meditative and prayer needs. The peaceful gardenlike setting and indoor fountain provides a serene backdrop for prayer and contemplative reflections. The chapel is located off the main lobby at the  Plymouth Avenue entrance.  It is open 24 hours a day for prayer and mediation.

"Praying Hands":
Florida Hospital DeLand believes in the power of prayer and the essential need to partner prayer with our reputation for the highest levels of "best practice" medicine and technology. You will notice the "praying hands" pin on many of our staff's ID badges and uniforms. If you see this pin on a staff member it signifies that the person wearing the pin is willing to pray with or for you if you feel the need.  In the presence of such a need, simply approach the individual displaying the praying hands pin and ask them to pray for you. Both of you will be blessed for the experience.
