Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

At Florida Hospital DeLand, we’re dedicated to getting you healthy and keeping you that way. Our team of medical professionals work closely with you and your physician to develop and individualized treatment program of exercise, education and counseling that meets your special needs. Our programs are designed to expedite recovery and reduce hospitalization from heart and lung disorders.

Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation
This 12-Week Program consists of fully monitored exercise, as well as disease-specific education and counseling. (Phase I occurs during a patient’s hospitalization and is not a prerequisite for admission to Phase II).

Our Phase II participants come to the Wellness Center three days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) to complete a 36-session program. During each exercise session, participants have continuous EKG monitoring.

While our education classes and individual counseling sessions help identify and modify risk factors associated with coronary artery disease, our individualized exercise sessions improve and help maintain cardiovascular health, muscular strength and flexibility.

Support groups meet to help members cope with their disease. As one member said, “There’s no better exercise than bending over to pick up someone who’s down.”

Phase II Pulmonary Rehabilitation
This is a 12-week outpatient program consisting of fully monitored exercise, disease-specific education and individualized counseling.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation participants come to the Cardiopulmonary Wellness Center twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday) to complete a 24-session program. Each visit is one hour in length.

All participants have continuous or frequent pulse-oximetry checks during exercise to ensure adequate oxygenation. Oxygen is provided if the need should arise, or for those who currently use oxygen at home. Continuous EKG monitoring via light-weight telemetry is also readily available upon physician request.
