The Cardiopulmonary/Wellness Center at Florida Hospital DeLand is pleased to offer therapeutic massage in a clinical setting by our professionally trained and licensed massage therapists. Each treatment session is tailored to the individual needs of the person receiving the massage.
Therapeutic massage involves the manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm, and stress as well as to promote health and wellness.
Techniques offered include:
Swedish Massage - A popular massage technique that involves a combination of light, medium and deep pressure that soothes muscles and joints while achieving a maximum relaxation.
Neuromuscular - Also known as "Trigger Point Therapy" or "Myotherapy." This deep tissue massage applies concentrated finger pressure to specific muscle groups and "trigger points" (painful irritated areas in muscles) to break cycles of spasm and pain.
Massage for Moms - A massage to promote relaxation, soothing nerves, and relieving strained back and leg muscles. It relaxes the mom and promotes a feeling of well-being in the unborn child.
Massage therapy doesn't just feel good. Massages can offer you many benefits from stress relief to improved circulation and higher energy. Studies have shown that massage therapy:
- Increases blood circulation and lymph flow
- Relaxes muscles and improves range of motion
- Increases endorphins (the body's natural painkillers)
- Relieves stress
- Increases and renews energy
Massage therapy can be very beneficial for those suffering from chronic arthritis, musculoskeletal syndromes and chronic headache and is excellent for the expectant mother and her unborn child.
