The Women’s HealthCare Center partners with the Radiology Department to offer ultrasound to diagnose and assist with treatment of a number of health conditions. A breast ultrasound is a diagnostic tool that uses sound waves, not radiation, to produce an image. A breast ultrasound is used to distinguish solid or fluid-filled areas with the breast, providing additional information to your physician. In addition, ultrasound guided cyst biopsies and breast core biopsies are provided.
Pelvic ultrasound can help identify ovarian cysts and solid masses, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, abscesses of the pelvic cavity, pelvic inflammatory disease and pregnancy.
Full-service ultrasound also is available for thyroid, abdominal and vascular conditions and can be used to identify blood clots in the legs.
