  • Applies to students or instructors who have not completed the Deland orientation in the past 6 months.
At least 3 weeks prior to clinical start date - contact the Education Department to coordinate pre/post conference needs, schedule, and Cerner orientation needs.

At least 2 week prior to clinical start date - contact the Education Department to coordinate necessary annual & new requirements for instructors, including BGM competency, computer access form, and Pyxis access. Have your students go to this website to print out the correct computer access form (tell them to look at title). All computer access forms need to be hand-delivered or faxed at least one week prior to the first clinical day or the instructor/student will not have access. The fax number is on the form.

Prior to the first clinical date: Instructor and Students must read to the Orientation Presentation, as a group or individually. Then print out and fill in either a Group Sign Off or Non-Employee Educational Experience Sign Off.

On or before the first clinical day - submit signed orientation sign off forms to the Education Department indicating that each student has reviewed the required information. You will sign your students in and out each day you are here.

Non-employee Educational Experiences (job shadowing or observation only without a clinical instructor):

At least 2-3 weeks prior to the start date - contact the Education Department to set up your schedule. If you are not enrolled in a program that has a contract with Florida Hospital DeLand (such as a local nursing or PT school) you need: a TB skin test or something comparable that is less than one year old and a short paragraph explaining why you want to observe. All students must read the Orientation Presentation. Then print out and fill in the Non-Employee Educational Experience Sign Off. The first day of the experience you will turn in your forms and provide a copy of your ID. Students under the age of 18 must have signed consent forms from parents as well. Review the Dress Code Policy (job- shadowing & observation students do NOT need computer access).

Required Student/Instructor/Non-employee Educational Experience Orientation Information:
Begin by Clicking on Orientation Presentation and reading. In addition, review the dress code policy. Finally, open, print and sign the correct sign off and computer access form.
