DELAND, FLORIDA, October 26, 2007 – Florida Hospital DeLand’s Women’s HealthCare Center hosted the 10th Annual Breast Cancer Seminar, Fashion Show and Dinner on October 18, 2007. More than 250 guests joined together at the Stetson Baptist Church Family Life Center in DeLand to celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year this special event brings together local breast cancer survivors and others whose lives have been touched in some way by the devastating disease. This year five cancer survivors showed off this year’s fashions from Dillard’s Department Store while inspiring many that there is hope against the disease.
Cancer survivor and American Cancer Society volunteer Suzi Graham and American Cancer Society Area Patient Services Representative Diane Neidhart spoke to those attending about programs available to those undergoing cancer treatments such as: “Look Good. Feel Better” and “Road to Recovery.”
“When we began hosting the Breast Cancer Fashion Show 10 years ago we had a small audience of 50 attendees. Seeing our numbers climb to over 250 this year leads us to believe that we have really made a difference in the community with our message,” said Florida Hospital DeLand Women’s HealthCare Center Manager Dawn Chase. “We use the fashion show as an educational tool that allows us to communicate the message that ‘Early Detection is the Best Detection’ to our community members, cancer survivors and their friends and families,” she continued.
