DELAND, FLORIDA, December 17, 2007 – Employees of Florida Hospital DeLand donated countless gifts to local families in need for the hospital’s sixth annual Adopt-A-Family initiative conducted in partnership with The House Next Door on Friday, December 14. The staff’s generosity will provide 23 local families with a variety of much needed items from their individual “wish lists” this holiday season including bicycles, toys, video game systems, guitars, clothing and toiletries.
Hospital staff and representatives from The House Next Door gathered in the hospital lobby for a small appreciation ceremony. Florida Hospital DeLand President and CEO Daryl Tol blessed the gifts before they were loaded into six vehicles and taken to The House Next Door where the adopted families will pick up the gifts to take home to their children in time for the holidays.
The House Next Door Executive Director Steve Sally said, “We are so appreciative of Florida Hospital DeLand’s support and generosity. Throughout the year we have worked with Florida Hospital DeLand’s employees and hope they realize what a difference they make in the community. These local families would not have a Christmas without this type of community support.”
