Joel O. Bautista, MD, has joined Florida Hospital DeLand and has opened a practice in Victoria Park Village Center, DeLand, Florida.
As a board-certified general surgeon, some of the services Dr. Bautista will provide include:
• Laparoscopic surgery
• Gallbladder surgery
• Hernia repair
• Abdominal/bowel operations
• Breast surgery
• Excision of skin and soft tissue lesions
• Thyroid, neck and throat surgeries, including tonsillectomies
Previously, Dr. Bautista practiced general surgery in Missouri for over fifteen years. He actively practiced at four hospitals - Hedrick Medical Center, Pershing Memorial Hospital, Samaritan Memorial Hospital, and Moberly Regional Medical Center. He held positions such as Vice Chief of Staff, Chief of Surgery, Credentials Committee Chairman, Trauma (Level III) Medical Director and Intensive Unit Director, and Surgical Director to Students and Residents. He was also active on the Ethics Committee, Medical Quality Assurance Committee, Medical Executive Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and the ICU/CCU Committee.
He fulfilled his general surgery residency requirements at Louisiana State University Medical Center of the Charity Hospital System in New Orleans after receiving his medical degree from Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Bautista is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is also a member of the Missouri State Surgical Society, American Medical Association, Missouri State Medical Association, Missouri Physicians Mutual Physician Advisory Board, and Southern Medical Association.
As active member in the community, Dr. Bautista was an active member on the Moberly Rotary Club Board of Directors and Scholarship Committee and the Randolph Area YMCA Board of Directors. He also served as the Moberly Senior High School Team Physician for over ten years. He plans on becoming active in the DeLand community as involvement is important to him.
