Florida Hospital DeLand Announces New Chief Nursing Officer

Florida Hospital DeLand announces Patricia Stark, RN, MSN, MBA as the new Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

Stark comes to DeLand from Zanesville, Ohio, where she worked at Genesis Healthcare System for 20 years.  As the Director of Nursing, she assisted in the successful integration of the two competitive hospitals into one health care system. She also participated in the implementation of the Studer principles [to make health care a better place for employees to work, physicians to practice medicine, and patients to receive care].

“I chose to come to Florida Hospital Deland from Ohio because it is evident that the hospital truly lives their mission,” said Stark.  “I believe compassion is an integral part of competence and have witnessed the compassion shown to patients and others on a daily basis here at Florida Hospital DeLand.”

Prior to being the Director of Nursing, Stark was the Nursing Quality Improvement/Accreditation Coordinator where she planned, implemented and managed The Joint Commission and quality programs.

As CNO of Florida Hospital DeLand, Stark will be responsible for providing administrative direction to both the nursing and clinical pharmacy departments, assisting with the development and implementation of a patient centered inpatient care model and promoting the professional development of nursing and pharmacy staff to achieve career growth and clinical expertise.

“Patients have choices of where to obtain their health care,” Stark continued.  “My goal is to develop a patient care model that sets us apart from others in delivering world class patient services.  I want people to choose Florida Hospital Deland, not only for competence and compassion, but for the overall patient experience.  I truly look forward to the opportunity of serving the patients and staff of Florida Hospital DeLand.”

Stark received her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama and her Masters of Business Administration from the University of Findlay.  She is also Nurse Executive- Board Certified (NE-BC).
