DELAND –State-of-the-art treatment and comprehensive care were the themes of a September 13 presentation and tour of the Florida Hospital DeLand Charles and Edith Morris Cancer Center.
Dr. Eric Gershman, Florida Hospital DeLand Hematologist/Oncologist, served as the keynote speaker and gave a brief history of cancer treatment and how it has evolved over the years.
“We used to treat all cancers the same,” Gershman said, “but now we know that breast cancer is not the same as lung cancer or prostate cancer.”
Gershman expressed his faith and trust in the Florida Hospital DeLand’s team of medical professionals to provide a comprehensive approach to cancer treatment with compassion.
“The community here has a great resource in Florida Hospital DeLand,” he said.
In 2011, the Florida Hospital DeLand Cancer Institute unveiled a $5.2 million expansion, which enhanced the services provided and allowed the facility to treat new tumor sites.
