DELAND, FLORIDA, March 21, 2008— Florida Hospital DeLand employees collected non-perishable food for The House Next Door to feed local families in need during the Easter Holiday. This year’s collection was just over 800 pounds and filled three Sports Utility Vehicles!

The House Next Door is a not-for-profit agency founded in 1976 by a group of concerned citizens and parents. The mission of the organization is to promote and nurture families through personal relationships with family, friends, and neighbors. This was Florida Hospital DeLand’s first year working with the House Next Door’s Easter food drive. “We at the House Next Door are very grateful to Florida Hospital DeLand for helping so many of our families have a much happier Easter as a result of these contributions,” said The House Next Door Executive Director Steve Sally.

The staff at Florida Hospital DeLand participates in numerous community projects throughout the year as part of the hospital’s mission to serve its neighbors. Other activities include a backpack school supply drive, Junior Achievement, Habitat for Humanity, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, and the American Heart Association annual Heart Walk.
